Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account and using Trolley Trekka (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Trolley Trekka. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

Trolley Trekka is a web application that allows you to:

• Upload grocery receipt images for automatic item extraction and categorisation
• Track your household spending patterns over time
• View nutritional analytics based on your grocery purchases
• Share receipt tracking with household members you invite

The Service uses artificial intelligence (AI) to process receipt images. AI-extracted data may not be perfectly accurate and should be reviewed by you.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Trolley Trekka. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly permit minors to use the Service.

4. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account. We are not liable for losses arising from unauthorised access due to your failure to secure your credentials.

You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts for the same individual. Use the household sharing feature for shared access within your family or household.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Upload receipts or images that do not belong to you
• Use the Service to process business receipts for commercial resale of analytics
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or subscription restrictions
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to access internal systems or APIs beyond the provided interface
• Upload illegal content or content that violates third-party rights
• Use the Service in a manner that could damage, disable, or impair our systems

6. Household Sharing

When you join or create a household, you acknowledge that:

• All approved household members can view all receipts and purchase data associated with the household
• This includes item names, prices, store names, and nutritional classifications
• You are responsible for only sharing data you have the right to share
• Household owners (admins) may remove members and manage access

7. AI Processing and Accuracy

Trolley Trekka uses AI models (including third-party providers such as OpenAI) to extract text from receipt images and classify grocery items. We do not guarantee:

• The accuracy of extracted item names, prices, or quantities
• The correctness of nutritional classifications or Plate Score calculations
• Dietary recommendations generated by AI (these are informational only, not medical advice)

The nutritional information and dietary recommendations provided by Trolley Trekka are not medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for dietary guidance.

8. Subscription and Usage Limits

Trolley Trekka offers tiered subscription plans with different usage limits. Free tier users are limited to a set number of AI-processed receipt uploads per month. Exceeding your limit will require you to wait until the next calendar month or upgrade your plan.

We reserve the right to modify tier limits and pricing with reasonable notice. Existing paid subscribers will be grandfathered at their contracted limits for the current billing period.

9. Intellectual Property

Trolley Trekka and its underlying technology are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of all data you upload (your receipts and personal information).

By uploading content to Trolley Trekka, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST. USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TROLLEY TREKKA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS.

12. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time using the “Delete Account” feature in Account Settings, which will permanently delete all your data.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abuse, or present a security risk to our platform.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
